Name Change Lawsuit

In accordance with Article 27 of the Turkish Civil Code; a change of name may only be requested from a judge based on justifiable reasons. The change of name is registered in the civil registry and announced. A change of name does not alter one's personal status. Any person who suffers damage due to a change of name may file a lawsuit to have the change of name decision revoked within 1 year starting from the date they become aware of it.
