If the parents are not married, to whom is custody granted?
According to Article 329 of the Turkish Civil Code; if the parents are not married, custody belongs to the mother.
If the mother is a minor, under guardianship, or deceased, or if custody has been taken away from her; the judge shall appoint a guardian or grant custody to the father, depending on the best interests of the child.
