CAN AN EMPLOYEE WITH A FIXED-TERM EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT TERMINATE THE CONTRACT AND RECEIVE SEVERANCE PAY DUE TO MARRIAGE OR MILITARY SERVICE?
According to Article 14 of the former Labor Law No. 1475, which remains in effect, the possibility of severance pay is not limited only to indefinite-term employment contracts; it is also emphasized that there is a right to severance pay when fixed-term employment contracts are terminated under the circumstances specified in the law. Therefore, whether an employment contract is for an indefinite or a fixed term, it is indisputable that the employee is entitled to severance pay if they terminate the contract due to marriage or compulsory military service.
