Personal Status of a Divorced Woman
Pursuant to Article 173 of the Turkish Civil Code;
* In the event of divorce, the woman retains the personal status acquired through marriage; however, she resumes her maiden name.
* If the woman was a widow before the marriage, she may request the judge’s permission to use her maiden name.
* If it is proven that the woman has an interest in using her divorced husband's surname and that this does not cause harm to the husband, the judge shall, upon her request, permit her to use her husband's surname.
* The husband may request the revocation of this permission in the event of a change in circumstances.
