What Are the Conditions for Adopting Adults and Incapacitated Persons?
Pursuant to Article 313 of the Turkish Civil Code; an adult or a person under guardianship may be adopted with the express consent of the adopter's descendants. A person may be adopted if they are in constant need of care due to a physical or mental disability and have been cared for and looked after by the adopter for at least 5 years. A person may be adopted if they have been cared for, looked after, and educated by the adopter since childhood for a period of at least 5 years. A person may be adopted if other just causes exist and the adoptee has been living together with the adopter as a family for at least 5 years. A married person can only be adopted with the consent of their spouse.
