Statutory Limitation Periods in Recognition Lawsuits

In accordance with Article 300 of the Turkish Civil Code; the right of the person acknowledging the child to file a lawsuit expires one year from the date the reason for cancellation is learned or the effect of the duress ceases, and in any case, five years after the acknowledgment. The right of interested parties to file a lawsuit expires one year from the date the plaintiff learns of the acknowledgment and that the acknowledger cannot be the father of the child, and in any case, five years after the acknowledgment. The child’s right to file a lawsuit expires one year after reaching the age of majority.
