Statute of limitations

In accordance with Article 72 of the TCO (Turkish Code of Obligations);
A claim for compensation is subject to a statute of limitations of two years from the date on which the injured party learns of the damage and the person liable for compensation, and in any case, ten years from the date on which THE ACT WAS COMMITTED.
However, if the compensation arises from an act that requires a penalty for which the penal codes prescribe a longer statute of limitations, this statute of limitations shall apply.
If a debt has arisen for the injured party due to a tort, the injured party may always refuse to perform this debt, even if the claim for compensation arising from the tort has become time-barred.
