ARE EMPLOYERS OBLIGATED TO GRANT FEMALE EMPLOYEES UNPAID LEAVE EQUAL TO HALF OF THEIR WEEKLY WORKING HOURS UPON REQUEST FOLLOWING CHILDBIRTH?

Upon the conclusion of the postnatal maternity leave used by the female employee, she shall, upon her request, be granted unpaid leave by the employer for half of the weekly working hours for the purpose of caring for and raising her child, provided that the child is alive; this period shall be sixty days for the first childbirth, one hundred and twenty days for the second childbirth, and one hundred and eighty days for subsequent childbirths. In the case of multiple births, thirty days shall be added to these periods. In the event that the child is born with a disability, this period shall be applied as three hundred and sixty days. A female employee who uses unpaid leave for half of the weekly working hours cannot benefit from breastfeeding leave during this period.
